“We Build Excitement” was one of Pontiac’s most memorable advertising campaigns, and looking at the appearance of the 1987er Firebird® GTA, it wasn’t just a saying. The GTA, new for ’87, was the ultimate Firebird. The Pontiac stylists missed him a sleek, cleanly drawn body with a smooth front apron, a wrap-around rear spoiler and aero aprons at the bottom of the car. Other features were the plain exterior paintwork and the subtle GTA lettering on the front fenders.Under the hood was a 5.7 liter V8 engine. It delivered 210 hp and had a torque of 315 lb-ft. Other features included Pontiac’s legendary WS6 handling package and 16-inch alloy wheels with diamond spokes. The designers of Revell designed this now classic kit of the 87er Firebird GTA in the scale 1:16, when the car was still new, but this is the first time in decades that the kit is available again.
